KUMAY Elastic Wrist Wraps

Supportive Stretch, Secure Wrist Stabilization and Reinforced Zigzag Stitching

KUMAY Wrist Wraps provide the elastic support and stability needed for bench pressing, overhead pressing and other demanding strength-training movements.

The wraps are available in two support levels:

  • Black/Red Powerlifting Version: Recommended for heavy 1–3RM attempts
  • All-Black Bodybuilding Version: Recommended for sets of 4 reps or more

Both versions provide effective wrist support without feeling excessively rigid. The difference between them is moderate, so either version can be used for general strength training according to personal preference.

  • Supportive elastic construction
  • Helps stabilize the wrist under load
  • Powerlifting and bodybuilding support options
  • Multiple lengths for different strength levels
  • Reinforced zigzag stitching
  • Secure hook-and-loop closure
  • Suitable for bench press, overhead press and strength training
  • Designed for repeatable wrapping tension

Choose Your Support Level

Black/Red Powerlifting Version

Recommended for:

  • Heavy 1–3RM bench press attempts
  • Powerlifting training
  • Maximum-effort pressing
  • Lifters who prefer firmer wrist support
  • Low-repetition, high-intensity sets

The Powerlifting Version provides greater resistance to wrist extension and is designed for lifters who require firmer support during heavy attempts.

Its stiffness is higher than the KUMAY Bodybuilding Version, while remaining less rigid than some of the stiffest competition-grade wrist wraps.

All-Black Bodybuilding Version

Recommended for:

  • Sets of 4 repetitions or more
  • Bodybuilding and hypertrophy training
  • General strength training
  • Moderate- to high-volume pressing
  • Lifters who prefer greater flexibility and comfort

The Bodybuilding Version provides reliable elastic support while allowing slightly more natural wrist movement during longer training sets.

Its overall firmness is comparable to many mainstream training wrist wraps and is firmer than some softer general-purpose models.

Which Version Should You Choose?

Choose the Powerlifting Version when your priority is maximum support during heavy, low-repetition work.

Choose the Bodybuilding Version when your priority is comfort, flexibility and support during moderate- or higher-repetition training.

The difference between the two versions is not extreme.

Both versions can:

  • Improve wrist stability
  • Reduce unnecessary wrist movement
  • Help maintain a more consistent pressing position
  • Provide additional confidence under load
  • Reduce excessive stress caused by uncontrolled wrist extension

Personal preference, wrapping technique and training style remain important factors.

Recommended Length by Bench Press Strength

The following recommendations are general guidelines based on bench press working weight.

45 cm / 18 in

Recommended for bench press weights below approximately:

60 kg / 132 lb

Best suited for:

  • Beginners
  • Lighter bench pressing
  • General fitness training
  • Users who prefer quick and simple wrapping
  • Smaller wrists

60 cm / 24 in

Recommended for bench press weights of approximately:

60–100 kg / 132–220 lb

Best suited for:

  • Intermediate lifters
  • Regular bench press training
  • Moderate support
  • A balance between comfort and stability

75 cm / 30 in

Recommended for bench press weights of approximately:

100–140 kg / 220–309 lb

Best suited for:

  • Advanced lifters
  • Heavy bench pressing
  • Greater wrapping coverage
  • Firmer and more adjustable support

90 cm / 36 in

Recommended for bench press weights above approximately:

140 kg / 309 lb

Best suited for:

  • Competitive powerlifters
  • Very heavy bench press attempts
  • Lifters who require maximum wrapping coverage
  • Users experienced with longer wrist wraps

These recommendations are not absolute.

A lifter may prefer a shorter or longer wrap depending on wrist size, desired tightness, wrapping technique and personal comfort.

How Wrist Wraps Work

The wrist is designed for mobility and precise movement, but this mobility can also make it vulnerable when supporting heavy loads.

During pressing movements, excessive wrist extension may place additional stress on the joint and surrounding muscles, tendons and ligaments.

KUMAY Wrist Wraps use elastic tension to support the wrist and limit unwanted movement.

1. Helps Control Excessive Wrist Extension

The elastic material wraps securely around the wrist joint.

When properly tightened, it helps prevent the wrist from bending too far backward during bench presses, overhead presses and similar exercises.

This can help reduce unnecessary strain caused by unstable wrist positioning.

2. Creates a More Stable Support Zone

The wrap extends across both sides of the wrist joint, connecting part of the lower forearm with the base of the hand.

This creates a more stable support zone around the joint.

Instead of relying entirely on the wrist muscles and tendons to control movement, the elastic wrap provides additional external resistance.

3. Supports More Consistent Pressing Mechanics

During a bench press, unstable wrists may move backward or from side to side under load.

This can make it more difficult to keep the bar positioned directly over the forearm.

A properly wrapped wrist may help:

  • Keep the wrist and forearm more closely aligned
  • Reduce unwanted movement
  • Improve confidence during the press
  • Maintain more consistent force transfer
  • Support stable positioning throughout the repetition

Wrist wraps do not directly increase strength by themselves. Their purpose is to provide a more stable platform so the athlete can apply force more consistently.

Reinforced Zigzag Stitching

Both the KUMAY Powerlifting and Bodybuilding Wrist Wraps use reinforced zigzag stitching around key areas, including the edges and hook-and-loop attachment points.

Unlike a straight stitch that concentrates tension along one narrow line, zigzag stitching distributes stress across multiple directions.

This construction helps:

  • Spread tension more evenly
  • Reduce stress concentration
  • Improve flexibility at the stitched area
  • Strengthen the hook-and-loop attachment
  • Reduce premature separation
  • Extend the usable life of the wrist wraps

The stitching pattern is especially important because wrist wraps are repeatedly stretched, tightened, released and rolled after use.

How to Wear Wrist Wraps

  1. Place the thumb loop over your thumb.
  2. Position the wrap slightly below the base of the palm.
  3. Wrap the material around the wrist with controlled tension.
  4. Allow each layer to overlap the previous layer.
  5. Secure the hook-and-loop closure firmly.
  6. Remove the thumb loop before lifting when preferred.

The wrap should cover the wrist joint rather than sitting entirely on the forearm.

For greater support, wrap slightly higher toward the base of the hand.

For greater comfort and mobility, position more of the wrap around the lower wrist and forearm.

How Tight Should Wrist Wraps Be?

The wraps should feel firm and supportive, but they should not completely restrict circulation.

Loosen the wraps when you experience:

  • Numbness
  • Tingling
  • Loss of grip sensation
  • Significant discoloration
  • Throbbing or sharp pain

Many lifters loosen or remove their wraps between heavy sets rather than leaving them fully tightened throughout the entire workout.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the Powerlifting and Bodybuilding Versions very different?

No.

The Powerlifting Version is firmer, while the Bodybuilding Version provides slightly more flexibility.

Both versions provide effective support for pressing exercises.

Can beginners use the Powerlifting Version?

Yes, but beginners may find the Bodybuilding Version more comfortable and easier to wrap.

The Powerlifting Version is recommended when firmer support is preferred.

Do longer wrist wraps provide more support?

Longer wraps allow more layers to be placed around the wrist, which may provide greater support and more adjustment options.

However, longer wraps also require more time to apply and may feel bulkier.

Should the wrap cover part of the hand?

For stronger wrist-extension control, the wrap may cover the lower portion of the palm near the base of the hand.

It should not be positioned so high that it interferes with gripping the bar.

Can wrist wraps prevent all injuries?

No training accessory can prevent every injury.

Wrist wraps may help reduce excessive movement and provide additional stability, but correct technique, appropriate load selection and proper recovery remain essential.

Can I use these wraps for exercises other than bench press?

Yes.

They may also be used for:

  • Overhead press
  • Incline press
  • Dumbbell press
  • Push press
  • Strongman pressing movements
  • Other exercises that place significant stress on the wrists

How should I care for the wraps?

To extend their service life:

  • Allow them to air-dry after training
  • Keep the hook-and-loop closure fastened during storage
  • Avoid leaving them wet inside a gym bag
  • Hand-wash gently when necessary
  • Use cool water and mild detergent
  • Do not use bleach
  • Do not tumble-dry at high heat
  • Avoid ironing the elastic material

Repeated machine washing and high heat may reduce elasticity and damage the hook-and-loop fastening.
